2016 Wall of Fame Induction

South Bend School District is about to induct the first group of members into the South Bend Wall of Fame since 2002, and the list is significant.  Inductees include: 1950 Football Team, 1976 Boys Basketball Team, Scott Taylor, Tim Taylor, and Brent Koplitz.

Presentations will be made at half time of the September 23 home football game vs. Mossyrock.  There will also be a reception on September 24, 2016 at the Willapa Harbor Chamber in South Bend at 6:00 pm.  Light food and desserts will be provided by the South Bend High School Booster Club.

Inductees


Scott Taylor - 1969 graduate of SBHS and a 10-time letterman in football, basketball, and track.  Set the school record in the mile (4:16.5) his senior year that still stands.  Retired from a long and distinguished career from the Washington State Department of Employment Security and the Washington Public Ports Association.

Tim Taylor - 1977 graduate of SBHS and an 11-time letterman in football, basketball, and baseball.  He was first-team all state in basketball his junior and senior seasons, and played on three state placing basketball teams, including the 1976 team that placed 3rd.  Currently the head boys basketball coach at Brewster HS, where he has led the Bears to 3 state titles.

Brent Koplitz - 1976 graduate of SBHS and a 15-time letterman in cross country, basketball, track, and baseball.  Played on three state placing basketball teams, including the 1976 team that placed 3rd.  Currently on the faculty at Tulane University. 

1950 Football Team - Pacific County Champions, finished with a 9-0 record, and was the highest rated B team in the final state AP rankings.  The Indians, who were led on the field by 1950 state scoring champ and future UW captain Stewart Crook, beat O'Dea 26-0 in Seattle that season.

1976 Boys Basketball Team - Far West League and SWW District Champions, 3rd at state in the A tournament.  Finished with a 27-1 record, suffered its only loss by one point in the state semifinals.
