SB Athletes Now Provided Free Concussion Baseline Testing
South
Bend School District is now utilizing an innovative program for student-athletes that will assist physicians in evaluating and treating
traumatic brain injuries (e.g., concussion).
To help healthcare professionals better manage
concussions sustained by our athletes, we have acquired ImPACT (Immediate Post-concussion Assessment and Cognitive Testing) software. ImPACT is a computerized exam used in many
professional, collegiate, and high school sports programs across the
country. If an athlete is believed to
have suffered a head injury during practice or competition, ImPACT is a tool
that can be used by a healthcare professionals to evaluate the severity
of the head injury and the athlete’s recovery from that injury.
ImPACT baseline testing will be provided free of charge on August 15, 2016 at 1:00 pm in the high school computer lab to all South Bend student athletes. Please see the links below for more information and permission/declination forms, or contact South Bend Athletic Director Tom Sanchez at: tsanchez@southbendschools.org
